Women do not stop giving birth, and risks of gender-based violence increase during conflicts and disasters. In response to rising humanitarian crises, displacement and suffering, UNFPA’s lifesaving work is more important than ever. In 2019, UNFPA appeals for $536 million to reach an estimated 35 million women, girls and young people, including more than 4 million pregnant women, in 64 countries. Looking back at 2018, UNFPA and partners reached millions of affected people with life saving sexual and reproductive health services and interventions to prevent and address gender-based violence.
