Say NO to Child Marriage
Today Chief UNICEF Odisha office Ms. Monica O Neilson has paid her visit to Rayagada. There was a meeting with joint convergence of School and Mass Education, SC& ST Development Department, District Social Welfare Section, District Child Protection Unit, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Social Security Section, UNICEF and Action Aid. The meeting focused on regular schooling, tracking drop out, ensuring child protection mechanism, social welfare schemes and nutrition. Drop out is a major cause for Child Marriage. So District administration presented the action points those have undertaken during last year. By involvement of Biju Yuva Vahini Volunteers, Mission Shakti Women SHG members, SMC members district administration is trying to combat child marriage.The meeting was Chaired by the Collector and District Magistrate Sri Pramod Ku Behera. DPC, SS, Smt. Anastasia Kerketa, District Science Supervisor Sri Manoj ku Gouda, District Child Protection Officer Sri Ramesh Nayak, District Welfare Officer Sri Nanda Lal Bariha were present the actions points undertaken by District Administration. Lopamudra Tripathy C4D officer and Lalita Pattnaik Education Specialist facilitate the discussion and discuss various aspects of education, child marriage and child protection issues. Prakash Kumar Barik District Education Consultant, Woheeda Begum, District Social Welfare Officer, Purna Ch Bariha District Education Officer were present in the meeting.
