Ghana Ends Child Marriage
The National Strategic Framework on Ending Child Marriage is an operational document that mirrors Ghana’s pledge to eliminate early and forced marriage as well as teenage pregnancy. The goal of the framework is to end child marriage using a holistic approach to ensure youthful livelihood and socio-economic transformation by 2030, anchored within the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It was developed through a hands-on participatory process involving non-governmental organisations and governmental institutions as well as in-school and out of school youth, girls at risk, teen mothers and wives. This framework provides technical know-how to address specific challenges encountered due to the damaging practice of child marriage. The effective implementation of the 10-year Strategic Framework by local government organizations, UN agencies and other development partners will see to the total elimination of child marriage in the country.
