Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN

“Child marriage remains widespread in Tanzania, disproportionately affecting girls and endangering their lives and livelihoods. Rooted in cultural tradition and poverty, the practice not only violates human rights laws but also threatens stability and economic development. Cultural practices and The Law of Marriage Act 1971 which allows girls to get married as young as age 14 fuel the practices”. This was shared by Koshuma Mtengeti during the Panel discussion on MenEngage Symposium in Maputo.
