Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN
In order to eradicate acts of violence, the Government through the implementation of the national action plan to end violence against women and children (2017/18 – 2021/22) has set up child and women protection committees in each region. For the Dar es Salaam region, the committee is made up of 25 people including various leaders such as religious leaders, immigration officer, provincial secretary, government lawyer, police representatives, social welfare officer and education officer.
In ensuring this committee operates the CDF effectively the sponsorship of UNFPA Tanzania has organized a three-day training program to enable committees to identify various forms of violence and how they occur as well as ways to protect the rights of women and children and especially girls against harmful customs and practices.
