Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN
Following a journey of 5 days training on MenCare (Fatherhood Training) in Kibakwe, Ward. The 5 days event aims at building capacity and awareness among men and boys on protection of Children's Rights, promoting positive Parenting and challenging Patriarchal norms undermining Women's position and status in their community.
Today marks the opportunity for men to learn, discuss and dialogue on human rights,Child rights and Child protection and building a foundation on who is a father and what it takes to be a good father.
The biggest lesson learnt is that every fertile man can make a child but not every fertile man can make a good father. A good man/husband need to do 3 basic responsibilities or have 3 basic (MUST) characters
(1) Care giving and Service/Support
(2) Love and Protection
(3) Clear Guidance and Directing.
The first two characters are associated with providing warmth (emotional security, support, physical and verbal affection and sensitivity and empathy to child's feeling and needs
