Governments need to have clear and consistent legislation that establishes 18 as the minimum age of marriage. Adequate safeguards must be in place to ensure that parental consent or other exceptions are not used to force girls into marriage. Parliamentarians themselves have a major role to play by placing child marriage atop the political agenda and calling on their government to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to accelerate change and end the practice.' Speaking as a Network Coordinator during the meeting with Women Parliamentarians in Dodoma on Advocacy meeting aimed to influence the amendment of the Law of Marriage Act,1971 organised by Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN .
