Following the ongoing efforts to curb child marriage in Tanzania, On January 17th,2018, Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN brought together different Religious leaders (at National level) and Traditional leaders from different regions with high prevalence rate on child marriage including Mara, Shinyanga,Dodoma,Tabora, Manyara,Mwanza, Morogoro and Dar es Salaam for advocacy meeting. The meeting aimed to sensitize them on the effect of child marriage and the role they can play to influence the Amendment of the Law of Marriage Act 1971 Section 13 and 17 which allows a girls to be married at the age of 14. The meeting was officiated by Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network – TECMN Chairperson Mama Valerie Msoka. The event was supported by High Commission of Canada to Tanzania @AMPLIFY CHANGE and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
