Girls Not Brides for End Child Marriage
“My best moment? On Valentine’s day 2017, Malawi’s parliament changed its age definition of a child, from 16 to 18 years old.” ????????
Meet Weston. He’s a trailblazing activist from Malawi who won’t stop until child marriage is history. ???? ✨
He’s no stranger to the harmful effects of child marriage, which he saw within his family.
In his own life, he’s committed to making sure women, girls and young people are protected and empowered to lead their own movements. He works tirelessly with Centre for Community and Youth Development-Malawi and GIRLS NOT Brides-Malawi Chapter to make it happen.
This week he’s at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), where he’s convincing governments, donors and development partners that educating girls and eradicating child marriage is a smart investment.
Congratulations to all our incredible members at #CSW this week!
Have you been following #CSW63? What were you excited to see?
