Girls Not Brides for End Child Marriage
“This is not only my story, this is everybody’s. In this world there are so many women who are living and suffering like me.”
Tabassum was a child bride at 13 and a mother of four. She suffered more than 20 years of domestic violence before divorcing her husband.
Homeless and unsupported, Tabbasum set out to do something to change how her community saw women. What she did next was incredible. ✨
Tabassum founded the first ever all-female Jirga (community council).
In spite of violent backlash, she persisted. She became the first woman ever to be invited to join the all-male Grand Jirga!
Now that’s a #WomensDay hero. ????
