Ghana Ends Child Marriage
The Birth Certificate is an important document for every citizen of Ghana. Aside meeting overseas travel and education requirements, birth certs are a necessary tool for prosecuting cases of child abuse such as defilement and child marriage especially for girls who may have body features that may cause some ambiguity regarding their age. A birth certificate is NOT optional. It is a must!
The effective implementation of the #ChildMarriageStrategicFrameworkGH specifically the proper prosecution and adjudication of child marriage cases hinges on a strong Civil Registry and Vital Statistics system for the registration of marriages and children at birth. The automated Birth Registration System has been rolled out and must be patronised by every Ghanaian citizen for new born babies.
