Constituents of Massachusetts all hands on deck needed to end child marriage!
More than 1,200 children have been married in the Commonwealth, the majority were young girls wed to adult men. The youngest children to marry were only 14 years old!
Judges approved 57 marriages of children under the legal age of consent (16) allowing perpetrators of statutory rape to go unpunished!
Early, child & forced marriages have been labeled a human rights abuse by the US State Department & the United Nations. It is time to end this State sanctioned Human Rights Abuse!
Please urge your Representative to prioritize and pass #S2294 on or before November 20th, 2019, which is the end of the legislative session & also Universal Children's Day.
Ways to take action:
1. Call or meet with your legislator as soon as possible & let them know you are supporting #S2294 an Act to End Child Marriage in Massachusetts and you would like to see it pass before this legislative session ends (November 20th).
2. Write to your Representative or host a postcard/ letter writing event with your organization, friends and family and hand deliver to your Representative asap!
3. Call the Governor's office.
