Ghana Ends Child Marriage
Earlier this week, the Ministry through the Dept of Gender and the Child Marriage Coordinating Unit engaged with Muslim Clerics from the Northern Zone (UE, UW, NR, AR and BA). The meeting which formed part of a Male Conference to take place across the country was to seek support from Muslim clerics and leaders on their role in addressing child marriage in Ghana.

These presentations were by Bagzaa Naa Alhassan Amadu a former Director of the Population Council and currently a lecturer of the Nursing School and Sheikh Iman Amin Bamba, CEO of the Bamba Islamic institute, Ghana
At the end of the forum, the Clerics promised to use their gathering and podiums to encourage their members to ensure that girls of school going age are not given off into marriages. They also promised to urge parents to be more responsible in caring for their children especially the girl child.
