‘The role of individual agency should not be undermined. If girl children are empowered and given the right support and mentorship skills, they are more likely to delay marriage and understand the problems associated with child marriage. Emphasis should be placed on the role of parents in instilling values against child marriage, treating boys and girls equally, and seeing the value of educating all children’.
